About Us
The Scratch Built Book Series has been created to support the growing hobby of model making. While the term Scratch Building is used as a basis for our series, we are focusing on the hobby of model making as a whole.
Our books are designed for all hobbyists at heart, with no preference for professional artists or novices alike. In fact, we aim to allow all creators the opportunity to be part of the series in one form or another. Whether it is showcasing their work in one of the many volumes planned, or sharing hints, tips and ideas in our resource manuals. To us, everyone has a part to play in supporting the hobby.
With so many topics to choose from the planned volumes have grown from one book, to now over 18 planted titles and 8 resource books. Yes, there is a lot of work ahead but we at SB are confident that together with the community, we can create a valuable resource for hobbyists everywhere
Who is Gaven Ferguson?
Gaven is an author and business entrepreneur. He specializes in supporting small business developments to grow and expand, through mentoring and support services. His passion though is trying new ideas and having fun while doing it. A scratch builder at heart, Gaven took up the hobby in 2020 and has been in love with it ever since.
While not an expert (far from it) he loves the idea of sharing information and helping others to grow and learn.
After being asked why he does not make a book about the hobby (after talking someone’s ear off), Gaven decided to form a team, put in the work and begin the journey of designing the series.
Driving the work forward, Gaven is determined to create a series of books that will inspire, delight and intrigue hobby enthusiasts the world over.
Where to from here
The journey has been a blast so far and the team is excited to be sharing the results of months of hard work and long nights.
Of course, the journey has only just begun and the team is pumped and ready for more.
